He made his first artistic studies from 2004-2008 in the Professional Academy of Visual Arts in the province of Las Tunas. Cuba. In the 2011- 2017 he studies at the University of the Arts (ISA) .La Havana. Cuba. Graduating of Degree in Scenic Design in the Faculty of Performing Arts. From 2017 to the present he is a Professor of engraving (lithography) at the University, in the Faculty of Visual Arts. He is a member of the Asociación Hermanos Saiz (AHS), and the Register of Cuban Artists Creators. He has made several solo exhibitions and has participated in more than thirty group exhibitions in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Spain and Cuba. His Works have been published in Portal of Visual Art. Architect, comic artist and visual artist. Graduated from the Academy San Alejandro National Plastic Arts in the specialty of Painting and Drawing, in 2013. He graduated as Urban Architect at the Technological University of Havana ¨José Antonio Echeverría¨ in 2019. His work has been published in books and specialized art magazines, inside and outside of Cuba. "A constant reflection gravitates around my work to various issues such as identity (ethnic, sexual and gender), queer theory and sexual alternatives, architectural design, art history and self-referentiality. Biography Statement I'm interested in the production of different subjectivities such as promoting drag culture, exploring categories as rich and multiple like the androgynous or the feminine, the art homoerotic and camp aesthetics, characterized by poses, affectation and drama. In my work I'm interested in highlighting the artifices, the carnival, the tragic-festive, the representation of the body, the theatricality, the extravagance and the marginalization of homoerotic desire, peripheries and all those expressions that constitute some type of dissent from the roles established by the culture of patriarchy. Request Private Show Request Private Show Biography Biography Rolando Cabrera is a photographer and visual artist, born in Havana in 1998. He is currently a Sociology student at the University of Havana, and studied painting in workshops previously taught in 2005 and 2012 at the National Museum of Fine Arts . He was a painting student at the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts for two years. He has worked in magazines such as Vistar Magazine, Garbos, Magazine AMPM, among others. His work is to show a different imaginary of a current Cuban society that has more to do with globalization and youth in this phenomenon, showing more similarities than differences with other contexts and also to demolish some myths of what it is like to live in today's Cuba. Today, the center of his photographic work is around the young people of today, showing them as part of that irreverence and freshness typical of a generation born during and after the 90` with conflicts and ravings, but with ecumenical aspirations. This is one of the young creators who, as a photographer, continues the tradition of portraiture as the center of his work, although escaping from the usual documentary photography in Cuba, always in black and white, always focused on details of the people he portrays, attitudes, gestures, etc. . He also deals in his work in a reflection less on the object of photography and more on its language where his portraits are just that: sketches of psychological and isolated explanations that refer to the diversity of characters in his work.
